Magnolia in London is peak pretty. The perfect pink blooms signal the start of spring set against rows of historic white stucco fronted houses. But London is a big place, where should you go to see the best magnolia?
🌷 When Does Magnolia Bloom in London?
Magnolia trees start blooming in early to mid-March, with the peak later in the month. Some late bloomers hang on into early April. If it’s been a particularly cold or windy year, the blooming window might be shorter—so keep an eye out!
📸 How to Get the Best Magnolia Shot
Shooting magnolia trees in London isn’t always straightforward—they’re tall, often on busy streets, and sometimes there’s a blooming car in the way. It is just the luck of the draw, move on to the next. Some things to keep in mind:
-
Try different angles—shoot from below or frame them with architecture.
-
Be patient—sometimes scaffolding, traffic, or bad lighting means you need to come back.
-
Explore—London’s streets are full of magnolia, blossom, and camellia in spring, so there’s always another perfect tree just around the corner.
-
Be respectful—most of these spots are residential, so be mindful of people’s homes.
The good news is, London streets are filled with lovely magnolia, blossom and camellia in Spring. So wherever you roam, you’ll be able to find a lovely Instagrammable photo.
🌸 The Best Magnolia Spots in London
🌿 Kew Gardens
An absolute take-your-breath-away magnolia moment. A little section of the garden has a cluster of magnolia trees close to the ground, meaning you can get in amongst the pink petals. I was SO giddy after my visit because I managed to time it perfectly!

Regent’s Park Magnolia – Park Square Mews and Brunswick Place
Hello heaven! These two little streets me and my friend stumbled upon are on the way to Regent’s Park and as they’re both on corners (very near each other), they are a dream to shoot! I particularly like all the pink camellia in the Park Square Mews shot!

🏡 The Boltons, Kensington
A famous, ultra-luxe street where the magnolia trees match the grand houses. The trees here are tall, pink, and stunning—basically, a magnolia dream. The Boltons is in a unique lens shape with an elegant church in the middle which means you can walk or drive around it. The houses are gigantic and often go ALL OUT with decorations for Halloween and Christmas. For Spring, as you can imagine, they have beautiful magnolia trees which are super tall and beautiful. Very pink, very luxe, very lovely!

📍 Sheffield Terrace, Kensington
This street has one of the biggest, most beautiful magnolia trees in London. However, this tree is my nemesis—between the workmen, vans (SO many vans), and unpredictable lighting, I have struggled to get the perfect shot. But when you get it right, it’s magic!

Posh houses, perfect magnolia. A must-see. There’s lots of pretty magnolia trees around here, all blooming at slightly different times.

🌸 Horton Street (end of Gloucester Walk), Kensington
Possibly the tallest magnolia tree in Kensington. But you can’t really miss this! It isn’t in the right place for a photo unless you’re very creative (very high up) but it is lovely to pass by.

Gordon Place, Kensington
White magnolia lovers, this one’s for you. I adore the daffodil filled window boxes and perfect leafy wall.

🌊 Palace Gardens Terrace, Kensington
This little spot is next to the Kensington Palace Gardens and a moment away from the VERY Instagrammable Churchill Arms. This is a blue plaque house for Sir Max Beerbohm and has a elegant white magnolia with daffodil filled flower boxes at the front.📍 Date visited: 22 March 2022

Possibly my favourite magnolia photo – blue skies, pink flowers and white walls.

📸 Notting Hill Magnolia Magic Kensington Park Gardens Road
A stunning white magnolia archway. Right next to Stanley Crescent, there’s a white magnolia tree peering over a gate in an archway. My photo is a screenshot of a video – god knows why I didn’t take a photo that day. And yes I needed may roots doing.

🌸 Westbourne Grove
A row of magnolia trees are planted outside the row of shops on Westbourne Grove (head to Sezane for the exact location). These are perfect for adding a little colour to your London shopping shots.

🌸 Northumberland Place, Notting Hill
This is a bit of a hidden gem as there’s plenty of aesthetically pleasing trees along this road. The slight downside is the number of cars on this little residential street. So lovely for walking, less so for street style photos. Unless it’s a posh car!

✨ Chelsea’s Picture-Perfect Magnolia Streets Bramerton Street (Pink House)
A HUGE magnolia tree covering a pastel pink house. Perfection. I’m really pleased I made the effort to visit this quiet street off King’s Road. This astonishingly high street covers the whole side of this pastel pink house. When I visited it was partially shaded so the camera struggled a touch with the contrast but I was pleased with the result.

🌸 Smith Street (With the Postbox), Chelsea
A magnolia tree with the iconic red postbox—so very London! Smith Street is just off King’s Road and has a few magnolia trees on it.
