Summer in London: 30 Beautiful Places to Visit

by | Jul 27, 2026 | Blog, London, Summer | 0 comments

If you’ve only ever visited London in winter, you’re missing one of the city’s best-kept secrets.

After spending 15 summers living in London, I’ve discovered that this city completely transforms when the sun comes out. Rose gardens burst into bloom, rooftop bars fill with people enjoying golden hour, Wimbledon takes over south-west London, and riverside walks become some of the loveliest places to spend a sunny afternoon.

The best part? Every summer I discover somewhere new.

So whether you’re planning a London holiday, looking for a weekend adventure or simply wondering where to enjoy the next sunny day, here are some of my favourite places to experience summer in London.

🌸 Beautiful Gardens & Flowers

Regent’s Park Rose Garden

One of my favourite places in London all year round, but especially in June and July when the roses are at their best. Wander through hundreds of colourful blooms before hiring a rowing boat on the lake or enjoying a picnic in the park.

Pembroke Lodge Rose Garden, Richmond Park

If Taylor Swift’s lyric “secret gardens in my mind” makes you think of fairy tales, this is the place.

Hidden within Richmond Park, Pembroke Lodge is home to one of London’s prettiest rose gardens, beautiful pergolas, colourful flower borders and spectacular views towards London.

Don’t miss the café while you’re there.

V&A Museum Courtyard

Every summer the courtyard at the Victoria & Albert Museum becomes one of London’s prettiest places to stop for coffee. The seasonal flowers, elegant surroundings and central fountain make it one of my favourite hidden spots in South Kensington.

With over 300 acres of gardens, glasshouses and woodland walks, there’s always something in bloom, from colourful herbaceous borders and water lilies to tropical plants inside the iconic Palm House. Summer is also a wonderful time to enjoy Kew’s peaceful lakes, hidden pathways and spectacular tree-lined avenues.

It’s also a fantastic area to explore on foot, with the nearby Millennium Bridge, One New Change rooftop terrace and riverside walks all within a few minutes’ walk.

Final Thoughts

One of the things I love most about London is that no two summers are ever quite the same.

Some years I’ll spend every weekend chasing roses in the parks. Other years it’s rooftop bars, Wimbledon, riverside walks or discovering another hidden garden I somehow hadn’t found before.

That’s the joy of London it’s always changing.

I’ll keep adding new discoveries to this guide each summer, so if you have a favourite summer spot that deserves a visit, I’d love to hear about it in the comments.

Happy exploring!
