Mastering Instagram Reels in No Time
Here are my top tips for really mastering Instagram Reels:
- Shoot on 4K at 60 FPS for optimum quality.
- Switch your Instagram account to ‘Creator’ mode if you have trouble accessing all the music.
- If you have a post where you’re talking, you can still add music behind this. Look for instrumental music and alter the voice to 100% and music to 5%. My favourite for this is Confident Instrumental by Demi Lovato.
Here’s some more tips with examples:
Use Trending Audio

You can also use trending audio (which just means, music or audio which is popular) to get more visibility on your videos. Just save the audio and select it in a new Reel. Add your own video along with the music and add captions to make it your own.
Make Editing Easily

If you have multiple clips, try making them all really short and the same length to make them easy to edit. I recommend 1 or 2 seconds so they’re easy to work with.
Try Transitions

Try different transitions to keep your viewer hooked. You can add these within Reels or make it even easier (and have access to even more transitions by using the Instagram Reels editing app InShot).
Another way to really smash your Reels and give them that professional gloss (while saving you precious time!) is by outsourcing your video editing.
Outsource Video Editing (but not yet!)
Okay, I’m going to admit it: I love outsourcing. And while this is a great time-saving way to churn out tonnes of Reels, I recommend that you hold off until you’re confident shooting them. Why? Because until you’ve edited videos yourself, you won’t really understand how the final video will look.
So while outsourcing is great eventually, in the early days, you should be editing your own videos (sorry, I know!). Honestly, it’s easier than you think and you’ll develop an eye quickly about how you should have shot things based on your own mistakes.
