I Posted the Same Social Media Content on Every Platform for 3 Months

🧪 The Content Experiment: What Happens When You Post the Same Content on Every Social Media Platform?

Let’s be honest: Instagram has always been my first love. But after getting blocked from posting on Instagram despite PAYING monthly for the blue tick. I started asking myself: What would happen if I stopped focusing on one platform… and just shared the same content across all of them?

That’s how this experiment started.

From TikTok and Threads to YouTube Shorts, LinkedIn and Pinterest — I began reposting my Instagram content everywhere. Not scheduled. Not reinvented. Just tailored and shared.

And now, I have the numbers. Spoiler: it’s been eye-opening.

⚙️ The Setup: Why I Started This Experiment

  • I was blocked from Instagram after getting verified (thanks, Meta bots).

  • I struggled to get logged in and access to support, and it derailed my posting rhythm.

  • I stopped daily Reels and focused more on high-value content — my blog, newsletter, and evergreen content creation.

  • I tracked weekly stats across all platforms to see what stuck.

Instagram’s Blue Tick meant I did get to speak to support. Who were…well, unhelpful…

📊 The Platforms I Tested

  • Instagram: My main platform (5.6k+ followers)

  • YouTube: Tiny but mighty, with a few surprising hits (85 followers when I started)
  • TikTok: Dormant for months, put back in action

  • Pinterest: A sleeper success with connected Instagram posts

  • Threads: Let’s just say I’m working on it

  • LinkedIn: Added to track more “professional” wins

📈 The Results (And Surprises)

Here’s what I learned over multiple weeks:

🔥 Top Wins

  • YouTube Shorts: My Taylor Swift “Eras Tour Tips” hit 150k+ views (!). The success on here has been a big factor in taking YouTube seriously.
  • TikTok: One video (Isabella Plantation) got 2.5k+ views with barely any followers. My Taylor Swift inspired content reached over 40k views

  • Pinterest: Connecting Instagram doubled my monthly views to over 30k. And has since hit over 200k for my Valentine’s Day content

  • Instagram: Best content = carousels and seasonal archives (Chelsea in Bloom was a standout).

  • LinkedIn: My “social media stats” posts consistently performed well.

⛔ Challenges

  • Instagram is high-effort, low-reward some weeks. I had big increases in impressions… but only gained 4 followers.

  • Threads continues to be low-engagement (even when I remember to post).

  • YouTube needs time, thumbnails, and strategy. Shorts win for speed, but long-form is slooow.

💡 What I Learned

  1. Video wins across platforms. Especially if it’s timely (like Taylor Swift content).

  2. Pinterest LOVES passive content. Just plug it in — the algorithm will do the work.

  3. LinkedIn rewards value + consistency. Share what you know. Don’t assume no one cares.

  4. Instagram still loves carousels. Reels might boost reach, but photos bring engagement.

  5. You don’t need to reinvent the wheel. My most popular posts were re-edits of archive content.

  6. Voiceovers help. Especially on YouTube and TikTok.

📦 Tools I Used

  • Dropbox + Notion: To declutter and store content (finally).

  • Inshot is my go-to for video editing. VSCO for ‘my’ filter to make it consistent. PS Express for light corrections.
  • Pinterest-Instagram Connection: Doubled my reach effortlessly.

  • Analytics tracking spreadsheet: To keep weekly tabs on what’s rising and falling.

🧠 What I Changed

Switching from an “Instagram-first” strategy to “content-first” has changed my workflow. It’s taken pressure off needing to perform on one platform — and it’s allowed me to repurpose more and stress less. Also I now feel so much better that my content is on MY platform. Rather than just going into the black (non SEO friendly) social media black hole.

That said, I still love Instagram. It just isn’t the only place that deserves my energy anymore.

If you’re also feeling overwhelmed with where to show up, maybe it’s time to run your own experiment. You might be surprised where your people are hiding 💌

🧠 Final Thoughts: What This Social Media Experiment Taught Me

One surprising insight? Every platform rewarded me with some form of growth — except Instagram. That really made me question whether I had my content mix wrong there, or whether my energy would be better spent building on the momentum I saw elsewhere.

On Pinterest, the growth was explosive. Connecting my Instagram directly led to my monthly views jumping from 20K to over 200K around Valentine’s Day — a reminder that automation can be a game-changer if used wisely.

LinkedIn was a real lesson in consistency. I felt like a total imposter on there (anyone else?) but just by showing up and engaging, my views and followers went up. It did become clear though — unlike the others, LinkedIn really needs custom content to thrive. You can’t just repost and hope for the best.

This experiment proved that repurposing is powerful, but platform-native tweaks and regular activity are what move the needle. I’m still learning, but for now, I’ll keep building with a content-first mindset — and I hope this inspires you to try it too.
