I am obsessed with Halloween! Every year I seek out the best spooky decorations in London and I love dressing up in scary costumes. It is a brilliant time of year for a proper marketing campaign. Kicking off at the end of September, you can really capitalise on Halloween throughout the whole of October. The spooky season is creative, fun and can involve the whole family, so check out my Halloween marketing tips here.
A Pink Halloween
This year I wanted to approach Halloween slightly differently. In previous years, I’ve dressed up in Halloween costumes but they’re not always on brand. Or basically as pink and girly as I would like! So this time I started to plan my outfit in advance. This is something I advise clients all the time, make sure you plan your creative campaigns in advance to get the maximum benefit! Back in summer I created a Halloween Pinterest Board adding ideas of ‘pink halloween’.
Pink Halloween Pink Witches Hat Tutorial
It wasn’t long before I found Keiko Lynn’s incredible pink halloween outfit and witches hat! I realised she had an entire tutorial on how to make the felt witches hat which she used a glue gun to add silk flowers to.
Using a combination of supplies from Amazon and Hobby Craft, I set off on a mission to make the hat. It was such a fun project where I followed the Keiko’s guide to cut the pieces out then hand stitched them together. You can use a sewing machine, but I’m proof you can do it without one!

How to Make A Witches Hat following Keiko’s tutorial:
How to Make the Witches Hat Cone:
- Cut 1 x rectangle of felt for the cone 14 inch x 22 inches
- Fold the cone in half and pin a measuring tape in the corner
- Mark the felt at 14 inch increments to create the cone shape
- Cut the cone shape
- Then from the edge of the corner (where you pinned the tape measure) to the edge of the curve, cut this straight line (pls watch the tutorial as this will make MORE sense)
- Sew the straight sides together and then turn it inside out
How to Make the Witches Hat Brim:
- Cut out 2 x squares of felt for the brim 16 x 16 inches
- Cut 1 x square of fusible interfacing 16 x 16 inches
- Take one of the squares and fold into quarters
- Pin the tape measure again into the corner
- Mark 9 inches and then cut the semi circle
- Repeat at 3.75 inches for the inner circle and cut
- Unfold and you’ll have the brim
- If you want to add fusible interfacing, iron this onto the brim with shiny glue bits side down onto the felt
- Pin the brim with the interfacing to the second square of felt
- Use the pink thread to sew around the edges of the brim
Finish & Decorate:
- Put them together – Use safety pins to attach the cone to the brim and sew the pieces together – This took me the longest to hand sew but worth it!
- I finished off with a stack of flowers attached with a glue gun which i added all the way around for maximum impact
- I also added tulle as a ribbon so I could tie it in a bow
- You can do whatever you like in terms of decor but enjoy it!
Keiko has a pattern on her website if it is easier – here.
Pink Halloween and Peggy Porschen in London
To photograph my pink hat, I was on the lookout for a pink Halloween display and luckily spotted Peggy Porschen’s witchy decorations were already up for 2024. I popped down there early on Saturday morning but to be honest it was still pretty busy. It is the closest I’ve ever come to being-too-scared-to-shoot…BUT I’d already dragged Mr City out of bed so I had to push through. I’m SO pleased I did, the staff were super supportive and I think they should get them to wear for Halloween too! CUTE.
Pink Halloween Outfit
I teamed it with my And Other Stories corset style cream top, my Needle & Thread Tulle Pink Skirt and a pair of pointed silver heels from Russell and Bromley. I feel like a witch always needs a pointy shoe.
What do you think? Would you consider making a Halloween hat in your brand colours?
