Chelsea in Bloom 2026: Dates, Theme & Best Displays

by | Mar 7, 2026 | Blog, Spring | 0 comments

I LOVE Spring in London, the streets burst into colour with magnificent flowers blooming each year. Chelsea in Bloom 2026 is returning to London this May, transforming the streets of Chelsea and Belgravia into a spectacular free flower festival filled with creativity, colour and imagination.

Running alongside the world-famous Chelsea Flower Show, this annual floral celebration spills out beyond the showgrounds and into the neighbourhood – meaning you don’t need a ticket to enjoy the magic.

If you’re planning to visit Chelsea in Bloom or Belgravia in Bloom this year, here’s everything you need to know: the 2026 themes, where to go, how to plan your route, what to wear, and where to stop for coffee in between.

As someone who has covered this event for YEARS now, I can honestly say it’s one of the most joyful free events in London but it’s even better when you plan it properly. And let’s cross our fingers for the weather, I am manifesting sunshine in May!

If you love Spring as much as I do, I also have guides for Magnolia (click here), Blossom (click here), Wisteria (click here) and the wonderful Isabella Plantation in Richmond (click here).

When is Chelsea in Bloom 2026?

Chelsea in Bloom 2026 takes place between 18 – 24  May 2026, running during RHS Chelsea Flower Show week.

Traditionally, the displays go live from Monday morning and remain in place until Sunday evening. Installations are often built overnight on the Sunday before the official start, so if you happen to be in the area, you may even see florists hard at work bringing the creations to life.

Belgravia in Bloom runs during the same week, just a short walk away from Chelsea, making it very easy to combine both in one visit.

What is the Theme for 2026?

Each year, both festivals have a unique theme, which is what makes them so exciting and unpredictable.

For 2026:

  • Chelsea in Bloom has announced the theme “Out of This World”, promising an intergalactic wonderland filled with astrology, mythology, celestial magic and zodiac inspiration. Expect UFO landings, immersive lunar landscapes and cosmic creativity across the neighbourhood.

  • Belgravia in Bloom will be embracing a “Fairy Tales in Belgravia” theme, bringing nostalgia, imagination and otherworldly charm to its elegant streets and boutiques.

One of the reasons I love this festival so much is that you genuinely never know how shops and florists will interpret the theme. From giant handbags and lipsticks to ballerinas and underwater scenes in previous years, the creativity is extraordinary.

Key Spots to Prioritise

Duke of York Square
This is usually home to one of the largest central installations. In previous years, we’ve seen dramatic statement pieces designed specifically for photographs.

Belgravia in Bloom: Where to Go

Just across from Chelsea, Belgravia offers a slightly quieter, more elegant atmosphere.

Key streets include:

  • Motcomb Street

  • West Halkin Street – Neill Strain

  • Eccleston Yards

Belgravia tends to feel more boutique and intimate. The displays are often highly detailed, beautifully styled, and less crowded than the main Chelsea routes.

Elizabeth Street in particular is a favourite of mine for its pastel shopfronts, independent cafés and charming atmosphere.

My Top Tips for Visiting Chelsea in Bloom 2026

After covering this festival for several years, here are my most important planning tips:

1. Do Your Research Before You Go

From Monday morning onwards, images of the completed displays start appearing on social media and on the official website. It’s worth checking the map in advance so you don’t accidentally miss a display you would have loved.

There is nothing worse than getting on the tube home and realising you missed your favourite.

2. Consider Visiting on Sunday (Installation Day)

On the Sunday before the official start, florists begin building the displays. While not everything will be complete, it’s fascinating to see the creative process and chat to the teams behind the scenes.

3. Wear Comfortable Shoes

You will walk more than you expect. Even if you are dressed for photos (which I absolutely encourage), make sure your footwear is practical.

4. Go Early or Later in the Day

Midday can be extremely busy, especially during Chelsea Flower Show week. Early morning or late afternoon tends to be calmer for photographs.

5. Allow At Least 2–3 Hours

If you want to explore both Chelsea and Belgravia at a relaxed pace, factor in time for coffee stops and browsing.

  • Florals

  • Statement skirts

Just remember: comfort first, especially if you’re planning to cover the full route.
