🎄 A Fairytale Beginning to Christmas in London

If you ask me, Christmas in London begins the moment you step inside Liberty. Hidden just off Regent Street, this mock-Tudor treasure feels like a time capsule of British style – all carved wood, twinkling lights and heritage charm.

For 2026, Liberty has teamed up with Helena Bonham-Carter to make sure their sell-out beauty advent calendar is extraordinary! The social media advert has Helena meeting beauty founders to put together the best calendar yet. Priced at £285 and worth over £1,300, with 29 beauty products including 21 full-size finds.

So I headed to Liberty’s famous fourth-floor Christmas shop to see what’s new for 2026, from hundreds of beautiful baubles and quirky decorations to London-themed gifts, festive food and Liberty’s own Christmas treasures.

I also had a little Christmas mission of my own: to find a festive Liberty treat to add to my 12 Days of Christmas countdown.

🕯️ The History Behind the Magic

Liberty has been part of London life since 1875, founded by Arthur Lasenby Liberty. Its iconic black-and-white building was built using timbers from two Royal Navy ships. Inside, the creaking staircases and wood-panelled galleries make you feel like you’ve stepped into a festive film set.

As you wander from the ground floor beauty hall to the top-floor Christmas wonderland, the smell of perfume and polished wood feels unmistakably Liberty.

Liberty has turned some of London’s most recognisable symbols into beautiful Christmas decorations, from red buses and black cabs to telephone boxes and its own iconic shopping bag.

It’s the kind of London souvenir that can actually become part of your Christmas collection rather than being packed away in a drawer after your trip.

🍫 Festive food and Christmas gifts

Liberty is also a surprisingly good place to look for small Christmas gifts. The Food Hall has festive chocolates, teas and beautifully packaged treats that would work particularly well for stocking fillers, Secret Santa gifts or a little luxury Christmas countdown.

After all that browsing, I couldn’t resist taking home a little piece of Liberty Christmas with me.

My choice was the Liberty chocolate advent calendar — not quite as extravagant as the £285 beauty calendar, but much more realistic for my own Christmas countdown!

I’m saving it for December, so you’ll have to wait to see what’s inside…

After exploring the Christmas department, we headed to Liberty’s restaurant for a luxury hot chocolate. It turned out to be the perfect place to sit down after Christmas shopping and continue the festive afternoon.

• Go early – the Christmas floor gets very busy and warm by mid-morning.

• Set a budget – ornaments start around £6.95 and can go up to £30+.

• Research beforehand – decide on your colour theme or collection before visiting.

• Look for Liberty print details – from stockings to crackers, these pieces are timeless.

• Don’t skip the food corner – the festive chocolates, truffles, and biscuit tins are beautifully packaged and make lovely gifts.

• Give yourself time. – Don’t treat it as a 10-minute Christmas shop. There’s the building, Christmas department, food, beauty and café.

✨ Is Liberty worth visiting at Christmas?

For me, Liberty is one of those London shops that feels like part of the Christmas experience rather than simply somewhere to buy presents.

The building, the wood-panelled interiors, the Liberty prints and the sheer variety of Christmas decorations make the trip feel like an occasion.

And I love that you can come looking for one little decoration and end up completely distracted by a £285 beauty advent calendar, a tiny London taxi bauble and a giant chocolate coin.

Very dangerous. Very Liberty.
