Taylor Swift’s London: A Swiftie’s Guide to the City

by | Jun 1, 2024 | Blog, London, Taylor Swift

Hello, Lovers! Taylor Swift is returning to London this month, and I’ve rounded up places she visits and added locations that suit each era for maximum Swiftie impact. From Camden Market to The Black Dog Pub, this guide will help you capture the perfect London snap. I’ve tried to recreate Taylor’s outfits but decided not to buy anything new, so this is the best I could do. Since Taylor arrived in London, I’ve updated this blog to include the Swiftie Steps so read to the end to find out more about them. You can also find my Taylor Swift The Eras Tour must-haves here on Amazon (aff link). Let’s get started:

Information on the Swiftie Steps is at the end of this blog so keep reading!

Taylor’s Fearless Era in London

Swiftie Vibes at Tower Bridge

Let’s start at the start! I made myself a sign in the style of “You Belong With Me” and borrowed my BF’s reading glasses. You can head to any location to give yourself the same vibe. I opted for the window at my flat in Kensington and then took it out to Tower Bridge, where I changed into a Fearless-approved gold sequined skirt. For extra points, get that 13 on your hand with eyeliner.

You Belong With Me in Kensington and Chelsea

Taylor has been to Kensington before; she visited Kensington Palace for a charity ball in 2013. I doubt she paraded around the streets with a guitar, but hey ho. Also borrowed from my boyfriend, I teamed this guitar with a long floral dress. Unbeknownst to me, the lace-up boots are similar to the TTPD white ankle booties (we shot this in March). The white backdrop is super simple for this era.

Speak Now Era in London

Enchanted in Greenwich Park

Give me ballgowns! For this era, I headed mainly to Greenwich Park in a floor-length Needle & Thread pink dress. It turns out, I don’t really own much purple, so pink it was!

Long Live in Notting Hill

I also shot a little bit in Notting Hill with the purple house backdrop. You’ll find lilac houses in Primrose Hill, Notting Hill, and also in Chelsea.

Red Era in London

Feeling Red on The Tube

The Tube just springs to mind when I think of Red—or really any London transport: think buses, trains, stations. I shot this on an early morning District Line tube at a weekend, so it was really quiet. My key piece here is the red hat in the style of the Red Taylor’s Version cover. I also had a Maple Latte (IYKYK) and a London newspaper too. My hat is from Zara, and the coat is Reiss!

Feeling 22 at Royal Albert Hall

I don’t know about you, but I love this military jacket from Zara. It has been in my wardrobe for YEARS. I wish it was a tiny bit more red like Taylor’s ringmaster look from the RED tour, AND I would quite like a top hat, but hey ho. I headed to the Royal Albert Hall for this shot which I think really suits it. You might recognise this venue from the red carpet from the likes of the Brits and the Fashion Awards.

1989 Era in London

Kensington Palace
This is probably the one I would like to improve on the most, but I was running out of time (despite starting this project in February!). I used Taylor’s 1989 cover as inspiration and headed back to Kensington Palace. The swans really upgraded the traditional seagulls.

Millennium Bridge & The Thames

If you’re looking for beachy vibes like Taylor’s cover, head to The Thames where there’s a few small sandy stretches. You can also head to Millennium Bridge to copy Taylor’s End Game video but I found it too busy to do a proper shot. I kept my clothes blue and white throughout to copy the Taylor’s Version cover.

Regent Street
Blue and white vibes work particularly well on this iconic street. This was shot a few years ago so we don’t currently have the Union Jack flags (we have blue ones for the Champion’s League Final) but you’ll still get the iconic buildings.

Reputation Era in London

Look What You Made Me Do in Westminster

This was the era I worried about THE MOST. I was convinced I didn’t have anything to wear and thought about all the snake print items I had given to charity over the years… but alas, I managed it! I wore a lot of red here and watched the “Look What You Made Me Do” video at least a hundred times. If you’re into this vibe, I suggest heading to Westminster and taking advantage of the phone boxes. Here you can practice saying, “The old Taylor can’t come to the phone right now, ‘cos she’s dead.”

Rep on Regent Street
I put my red Reputation style OTK boots on and headed to the bottom end of Regent Street for this shot. Add a London newspaper for the full rep-effect.

Lover Era in London

Boy oh boy, there’s a lot to cover here, so let’s go swiftly. The full list includes Shoreditch, Camden Market, Soho, Hackney, Brixton, Bond Street, and the West End.

Camden Market
Lover is all about colour, so I picked a hot pink jumper and a blue suit with heart-shaped sunnies for this look. Since Taylor likes ‘walking in Camden Market in the afternoon’, I went too! I took two shots: one on the little Iron Footbridge over Regent’s Canal, but the second is my favorite. There are yellow, pink, and orange umbrellas in the market which make the most insane backdrop! Very Lover! While you’re up there, you can also head to Kentish Town to the famous takeaway Kentish Delight, which Taylor has actually been to.

Primrose Hill
Taylor apparently lived in the Primrose Hill area during her Lover era, so it is the perfect place to head if this is your vibe. First, head to the top of the hill for views of the city. It can get busy, but take your time and enjoy a coffee and a picnic here. There are also two red London phone boxes at the bottom, which give me major One Direction album cover vibes. Shoot on an angle or stand between them for cute shots.

Colourful Houses in Primrose Hill, Notting Hill and Kensington and Chelsea

The most Lover thing ever would be the pastel houses! Luckily there’s plenty around the city. You can head to Primrose Hill or Chelsea but my favourite is this pink house at the back of Notting Hill tube.

Folklore & Evermore Eras in London

St Paul’s Cathedral
I’m sorry to Swifties for combining these two albums, but here we are. If you’re looking for a natural and ethereal look, I decided to head to St Paul’s Cathedral, which is a stunning and iconic landmark with a small garden outside. It was March when I shot this, and it started raining, so it could have been better. I wore my friend’s check jacket, and she plaited my hair.

I also shot a flowing gown on my Kensington balcony. We have plenty of gardens in London, including the beautiful Regent’s Park Mary’s Rose Garden.

Midnights Era in London

Bejewelled in The Black Dog Pub

The Black Dog Pub is name-checked in The Tortured Poet’s Department, but I thought it would make a cool backdrop for Midnights. For this shot, I’m wearing a silver cape from the Vampire’s Wife x H&M collaboration and flares in the style of Taylor in “Bejeweled.” The Black Dog Pub is just FAMOUS now. It is a 7-minute walk from Vauxhall (Victoria Line) and is super relaxed. You’ll find a chalkboard with the song lyrics outside, a Taylor-inspired mural inside, and you can even buy Black Dog beer.

Big Ben, Parliament & London Eye

This was one of my favourite eras! I have a white corset, tulle skirt, and long black gloves in the style of Taylor’s Grammy Awards outfit. I wanted to shoot this final shot near Big Ben because of Taylor’s obsession with timepieces. If you head to Westminster tube station, you can head to the Victoria Embankment first and take a shot of the London Eye. There is always plenty of space on this side. After that, I went to Westminster Bridge, where it was sooo busy. My advice is just to go with the crowds and turn everything into black and white so everyone blends in. Then cross the bridge to take an extra shot from the other side.

Swiftie Steps at Wembley Stadium London

If you’re visiting London during 2024, you’ll find that Wembley has gone the extra mile to welcome Taylor and Swifties. These candy coloured pastel stairs are to the RIGHT of the side of the main stairs on Olympic Way. Take note of the cute Swiftie Steps street sign! If you have What 3 Words – the reference is ///visit.rests.become and the mural is around the back of these stairs. I also visited the VIP Merch Stand which had the album artwork on it.
