Welcome to September friends! This point in the year is often seen as a second New Year where we move into Autumn. In this blog post we’ll look at the value of awareness days and seasonal content plus how to use it in your marketing.
What is the Autumn aesthetic for September content?
September is the beginning of Autumn so there’s common themes you’ll see every year. You can weave these into your content. Don’t forget to film B Roll this autumn and save it for next year to make life easier.
How to get inspired for Autumn and September content?
- take a look on Google and Keyword Planner to see what people are searching for in your market
- pick up the September issue of your favourite magazine and look at how they are structured. It is usually wall to wall top tens, things for your diary for the Autumn season, tips of what to do and organise your life. Take inspiration from those themes
- look at content which worked for you last year and work out what you can recycle. Use the best pieces for inspiration
- your archive – search your camera roll for September and look for all the special moments in the past to inspire you.

What props and B Roll shall I use for September and Autumn?
New Term
September equals New Term vibes which ALWAYS makes me think of the Alicia Silverstone film Clueless. The famous AI wardrobe scene with the back-to-school-energy perfectly encapsulates a fresh term. Incidentally did you know it will be the 30th anniversary since the films release in July next year? I created this Reel inspired by the movie – it was so complicated to create the wardrobe section! Let me know if you’d like to see a BTS! For props, think new pens, notebooks, bags and so on. You might also like a declutter and reorganisation!
Nature
Things you can lean into for September include crisp leaves, lovely flowers like hydrangeas and shiny conkers.
Food
Seasonal fruit and vegetables, autumnal recipes and bakes, autumn drinks. Think warm soups, cosy cakes and hot teas.
Fashion, lifestyle and makeup
Trend-led looks, new shapes, colours. Also take inspiration from all of the fashion weeks happening in September. Plus Second Hand September highlights sustainable shopping. It’s almost sweater weather!
These themes can be applied to interiors, hair, make up and so on.

6 September – Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Movie with Jenna Ortega and Winona Ryder – imagine the fashion and makeup trends particularly! And potential dance trends if the Wednesday series is anything to go by!
12 September – Emily in Paris season 4 part 2 – our fave American is back in high fashion outfits
