You’ll have seen the beautiful decorations from previous years but THIS is what you can expect for Christmas in London for 2022. I’ve got Christmas lights, festive shops and decorated restaurants. Here’s Christmas in London Instagrammable Places in Detail:
1 – THE most Instagrammable Place – Harrods Dior Christmas Decorations in Knightsbridge in detail
If you only see one Instagrammable place this Christmas in London, then this is the one. Harrods and Dior have pushed the boat out on this years ‘The Fabulous World of Dior’ collaboration. First up, it is a Gingerbread theme which combines the charm of the English spirit with French luxury. Outside you have the biggest celestial themed decorations with a huge star with a planet at the centre decorated in white flowers. The stars and flowers which look like sugar dusted gingerbread pieces, stretch the entire length of the department store. My top tip is to go to the other side of the road to take a look and hold out for a passing bus or taxi for the ultimate Christmas London look.
To get the most out of your Instagram opportunity, book for the Dior Cafe or the Dior Exhibition. The Dior Exhibition is free but you must book a slot. Oh my word it is exquisite, it is like the history of Dior in Gingerbread form. It has shoes, handbags, little dresses, trees, lights and even fireworks. Dior’s exhibition is downstairs in Harrods and takes about 15 minutes with a guided tour so you don’t get much time to faff around. It is more Instagrammable in the overwhelming beauty but you’re unlikely to get an outfit shot here. It is on from now until 3 January 2023 so find out more here.
2 – Dior Christmas windows on New Bond Street – the most luxury Instagrammable Place
I adore Dior! Bond Street is by far my favourite festive street, I know, I shouldn’t play favourites, but everything is just so extra glamorous and sparkly. This year my stand out winner is the Dior window with the beautiful celestial theme which is echoes the Harrods concept. Instead of Gingerbread we have fresh creams and pretty gold mixed with nautical navy blue. You’ll find the same planet surrounded by Dior flowers and an enormous star. There were loads of people photographing this one so easier the better!
3 – Regent Street Christmas Angels – The Spirit of Christmas
The Regent Street Christmas Angels are something of an institution now, I wonder where they hang out when they’re not on display? Anyway, I digress. The 45 angels which form The Spirit of Christmas light up the whole length of Regent Street. Soaring into the sky, they will shimmer and sparkle from 3pm to 11pm every day until 3 January 2022. They’re totally free and try standing in the middle of the road (on the pavement) for that perfect London shot. Find out more about Regent Street Lights.
4 – Churchill Arms Pub Kensington Christmas Lights and Trees, Kensington Church Street.
Churchill Arms is on Kensington Church Street, a stones throw from Notting Hill Gate, and about ten minutes walk to High Street Kensington. This area is beautiful with cute shops, sweet eateries and the biggest houses you can imagine. The Churchill Arms is named after Winston Churchill, after (rumour has it) that his grandparents used to visit the pub. It is stacked full of memorabilia but that is not why we are here. Because every year, the pub gets decorated in 80 Christmas trees and 22,000 Christmas lights (this photo does not do it justice!). They are on now until January.
5 – Ralph Lauren New Bond Street
Ralph Lauren is a classic and in a kind of a golden triangle opposite Cartier and Tiffany. The four story store is getting more Instagram friendly by the minute as this beautiful building already has the cutest cafe on the ground floor. The store is well worth a stroll round for the English country aesthetic before grabbing a coffee to drink outside and watch the world go by. Their Christmas decorations seem to be the same each year with a lovely big tree outside.
6 – Louis Vuitton New Bond Street
Louis Vuitton has partnered with Lego for Christmas this year. There’s a stack of bright coloured lego in the window spilling out of a branded Louis Vuitton trunk. At the front there’s a pile of white branded luggage piled high with pretty stars and blue flags either side. It is modern and very cool.
7 – Carnaby Street Christmas Lights
In true Carnaby Street style, the Christmas lights for 2022 are bright, glitzy and eclectic. This super size pick n mix has something for everyone and they stretch down the whole of Carnaby Street. The theme for this year is with their charity partner Choose Love. Find out more about the Carnaby Street Christmas Lights here.
8 – Bond Street Christmas Lights
Bond Street have moved on from their peacock theme from previous years to a Royal theme complete with tiaras and sparkly lights. My favourite is the beautiful big crown next to Louis Vuitton which is pictured.
9 – Boodles Christmas Baubles, New Bond Street
Boodles is reassuringly the same again this year with beautiful pink baubles adorning the whole store.
10 – David Morris Jewellers on Bond Street
11 – Fortnum & Mason Decorations
12 – Somerset House Moet & Chandon Tree
13 – Harvey Nichols Sparkly Decorations
14 – Burlington Arcade
15 – Liberty Christmas Tree
Remember with all places which are perfect for social media that it can get busy so arrive early (or at sunset if you want the lights).
